Sophisticats Week 14

Good morning all, it's a wet and windy one here, yuck what a start to the week. However it is a new challenge week over at Sophisticats. A HUUUUUGE thank you to everyone who joined in with my challenge last week, we had our highest number of entrants, over 60, which is fantastic, the winner will be announced tomorrow.

This week our lovely boss Lisa has chosen the theme and she's gone for:

No image - verse & flowers for any occasion

You may have spotted a distinct lack of flowers on my card, that's because I forgot - oops, was so busy on Saturday making all my DT cards for the week ahead and I missed out the flowers, but I've been forgiven - phew!

I used the sketch from this week's Funky Fairy Challenge, so I'm entering my card in there, and also at Cards for Men, as I think this card has a masculine feel to it.

I've used all SU products on my card as detailed below:

Stamps - Silent Night, chalked with SU pastels; SnowBurst (stamped with Versamark)
Cardstock - Whisper White; Chocolate Chip; Real Red
DSPs - Merry Moments
Ribbon - Chocolate Chip Grosgrain

Hope you'll join us again this week, our prize is two week Guest DT spot next year.

Have a good day!

ILWS Cinderella Effect

There's a great challenge going on over at ILWS it's called the Cinderella Effect as it was set up for all us poor (literally LOL) Demo's who couldn't go the ball this weekend i.e. Stampin' Up! first European Convention, being held in Germany. So to give us all something to do (it's also open for non-Demo's too) there a whole load of challenges going on, 6 for yesterday, 6 today and one biggie which finishes tomorrow. Hop over for a look.

I managed to enter three challenges yesterday, the card above was for the "Modern Winter Card" challenge.

Recipe: (all SU!)
Stamp - Snowburst
Sentiment - Best Yet
Cardstock - Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White
Ink - Tempting Turquoise
Circle Punch
Other - bling from stash, embossing folder

The second challenge I did was the "Place Names" and I did these fun ones for my family:

Recipe:
Stamps - All in the Family, Seeing Spots
Cardstock - Tempting Turquoise, Orchid Opulence, Only Orange
Ink & markers - Tempting Turquoise, Brilliant Blue, Orchid Opulence, Lovely Lilac, Only Orange, Pink Passion
Punch - Window Punch
Other - letters cut on CraftRobo

And the third challenge I did was a jewellery one with added bling, so I used Fun & Fast notes on Shrink Plastic, coloured with glittery pens & made them into earrings

Had great fun and time, long time since I've done so much crafting in one day and time permitting, hope to do a couple today.

A White Christmas

Here's another "all white" Christmas Card, this time for this week's Penny Black challenge, I really do like this effect of a coloured image on a white background, I'm also entering this into Incy Wincy's challenge as I've used their sketch. I bought (quite a few!) PB stamps at the NEC yesterday as I don't have many, really like the stamps and can't buy them locally and I've used this cute set of Carol Singing mice from one of the sets - looks like they're having a whale of a time - if you look carefully you can see one of them has his carol book upside down!

I've coloured the image with PM's - bought 4 of the new sets yesterday too and there are some glittery snowflakes around the image, not very clear in the pic, which I stamped out using an SU! stamp from the set Snowburst with Versamark and added Dazzling Diamonds. The card has been embossed using two CB folders (guess when I bought the new snowflake one?), added some lace, the sentiment is from my old favourite SU! Circle of Friendship and I've also used some shimmery off white c/s (from stash) to mat the image & sentiment on & have punched out a snowflake from the same card using a (yes, it's new & yes I bought it yesterday) Martha Stewart punch!

I had a good day at the NEC yesterday, bought loads of stamps, which I wasn't going to do! Some ProMarkers, which was my intention and a few other goodies like the MS punch, CB folders, some new Nesties, and not so exciting, but necessary a new blade for my CraftRobo. It was really, really busy, especially in the morning, busier than I thought it'd be for a Thursday and I don't think there were as many stalls as last year, it seemed a bit smaller, but plenty of people buying and lots to look at, so had a really good day, came home absolutely exhausted having been on my feet all day, flat stony broke as I spent all my budget (and a teeny bit more - ooops!) and with a cracking headache as I hadn't really eaten, or drunk much all day - well I was too busy browsing & shopping, you know how it is, plus of course the queues to eat and to use the loos were ginourmous, so it was almost easier not to do either!!

And on top of all that stash, look what arrived it the post this morning:

A few weeks ago I was very lucky and won the four new winter releases from the Little Paper Shop and they arrived! Yippee! Aren't they fab, I've got so many new goodies, I don't know where to begin!

Well that was a long post from me, if you've stayed to the end, well done, I'm now off to do the weekend shopping at Sainsburys - oh joy, then have loads of crafting I want to do, as we've got some great challenges going on over at In Love With Stamping, to keep all us poor Demo's who didn't go to the ball (European Convention) occupied.

Have a good Friday & TFL xx

Charisma Challenge #39

Here we are again, another week flown by and it's time for Charisma Cardz Challenge. Joanne has set the theme this week & it's decoupage. I haven't done any decoupage in ages but found some old decoupage sheets tucked away in my craft room - when I started crafting all I did was decoupage, but then I discovered STAMPING and the rest, as they say is history! Now of course you can decoupage with a stamped image, digi-image, anything you like, but I have a few sheets featuring these lovely characters, called Toreads, and thought it'd be nice to use one of them.

As the main image is quite colourful, rather than add more colours to the card, I've simply put it onto SU! Basic Black cardstock, which I've stamped with an SU! Snow Burst stamp, blinged up with the use of Heat & Stick powder and some Dazzling Diamonds.

We're giving away three prizes this week, Simon Says is sponsoring our main prize and we're lucky enough to be able to give away two discount vouchers courtesy of Handy Hippo.

Pop over to Charisma here for a look at the gorgeous DT cards and join in this week's challenge.

Ta-tah for now x

Yesterday's SU Class

Yesterday was my monthly Thursday class, with my lovely group of ladies, I really look forward to this class as we have such a good old natter, yesterday we only just managed to make our two items, we were gassing so much, and then we ran over as I showed them some sneaky peeks from the new catty - which went down very well.

Anyway, we made a Christmas card & matching gift wallet using the Loads of Love set. The card has been made with the Neighbourhood wheel as the background, with just small bits picked out using a Real Red marker, a really easy card to make but quite effective.

The matching wallet also very simple to do (I would say quick but that wasn't the case!) not clear in the pic but I've used stamps from the Snow Burst set in Versamark over the outside and then made the gift card inside using the truck again.

A lovely session though and I'm very excited as I've now got a 2nd class starting up on Saturday morning, so looking forward to that.

Recipe: All Stampin' Up!
Stamps - Loads of Love; Snow Burst; Neighbourhood Jumbo Wheel
Ink - Basic Black; Real Red; Old Olive; Versamark
Cardstock - Whisper White; Real Red
other - SU! Sticky Strip; Velcro coins

Doodle Palace - new images & a freebie!

It's release day over at DoodlePalace, with some great new images being released, there's also a freebie to be snagged so pop over here for a look!

I've made my card using the new Santa & Rudolph image, which I thought was very sweet! I've used the sketch from I love ProMarkers monthly challenge & coloured my image with PM's so am entering the card over there.

The papers are Pebble Ink; the cardstock is SU! Real Red; the sentiment is Stampin' Up! from the Level 3 Hostess set Window Dressing; and I don't know if you can see the sparkly snowflake beneath the sentiment, but that's also SU! from the set Snow Burst. I've embossed the cardstock with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and the ribbon is from my stash.
