Get Sketchy #7

This is my entry for this week's Get Sketchy Challenge, a very simple sketch, which I enjoyed. The card was really quick to do as the image is a solid stamp which I've inked up using SU Markers, so no colouring in to do afterwards, I've matched it up with SU! DSP's and matching cardstock and it came together in about 10 minutes - which is probably a record for me - I can ummm & ahhh for ages! I recently bought a little gadget for crimping paper & cardstock and I've used that on the mustard card to add a bit of texture.

Recipe - All Stampin' Up!
Stamps - new Level 2 Hostess set Whimsical Wings; Circle of Friendship
Stampin' Write markers - Tempting Turquoise; More Mustard; Garden Green
DSP's - Haiku
Cardstock - Tempting Turquoise; More Mustard; Whisper White

This is one Mother of a Blog Candy, Jak is giving away a Quickkutz Silhouette worth £299!! I'd pop over to her blog here for a look if I were you

All That Scraps & Allsorts Challenges

I made this cute little backpack, following the instructions over at All That Scraps blog and I'm also entering it into Allsorts Challenge which is Autumn Days.

I've seen these backpacks on other blogs and they look so sweet, I really enjoyed making my own, although I didn't realise how small they are, but still very sweet.

I've used Stampin' Up! Washington Apple papers (last day before they retire) and some ribbon and eyelets from my stash. I've put a CC image called Apple Emma on the back, which worked so well with the papers, as there just wasn't room to squeeze her on the front!

Going purple for Papertrey

I don't normally "do" purple, I don't dislike it, but it never seems to jump out at me. However I recently won some precious Papertrey Ink papers and they're all purple, so that seemed a good a reason as any to go purple!

The challenge over at PTI is a birthday one, and although I haven't put a birthday sentiment on the front of the card, it could be used for a birthday (ok, I'll come clean - I forgot about the birthday bit until I'd stuck the sentiment on the front - so I'm hoping it will still be allowed!).

It's my first Sugar Nellie too, my friend Carly stamped some images for me and this was among them, I think she's gorgeous, so thanks again Carly.

Recipe:
Stamp - Sugar Nellie
Sentiment - Stampin' Up! Best Yet
DSP's - Guidelines by Papertrey Ink
Cardstock - Stampin' Up! Perfect Plum
Flower & bling - from my stash.

It's week 4 at Sophisticats

This is my DT card for this week's challenge over at Sophisticats, we're on week 4 already, blimey how did that happen? And this week the Sketch has been provided by the wonderful wacky Stef. It's a great sketch, interesting without being too complicated I think so I hope you'll join in & you can win one of Lisa's own CD's that she designs, which is full of gorgeous backing papers.

I had an absolute nightmare trying to photo this card, no matter what I did I just couldn't get the colours right, they're still not right now, but as good as it's going to get, I'm seriously considering getting myself a small light box for photography, as now the days are drawing in & the good weather surely won't last much longer, I think it'll come in very handy. My hubby (who hates paying for anything as he says he can make it himself (and he's usually right!) cobbled together a light box inside a cupboard when I mentioned I needed one! He rigged it up with white boards, a light, sheeting and all sorts, but I did get better results than I got outside).

Anyway, I've gone for another Christmas card, and it's all Stampin' Up! A couple of weeks ago I visited my SU! granny (my upline's upline in other words!!) and stamped out some images from the lovely Scandinavian Season set (and have now added this to my never-ending wishlist!).

Recipe:

Stamp Set - Scandinavian Season
Ink - Always Artichoke, Real Red
Stampin' Write Markers - Real Red; Pumpkin Pie
Cardstock - Always Artichoke; Real Red, Whisper White
Plus Dazzling Diamonds glitter

Other - Cuttlebug embossing plate.

Hope you'll join us this week.

Funky Fairies No. 35

This is my entry for FunkyFairys Challenge this week, where the theme was to use some doodling!

First off apologies for the photo being a bit dark, but considering I took it on my iPhone inside, it's not too bad, but the card is a bit brighter in real life.

This was a really quick & easy card to make and ironically it's the first card in days that I'm pleased with.

The cute little birdies, sentiment and papers all come from the FF kit A Lil Bit of Happy, the cardstock is Stampin' Up! Tempting Turquoise, the ribbon is DCWV and the gorgeous brad is My Minds Eye, I almost didn't want to put it on the card it's so lovely! I've added a bit of doodling around the image using an SU marker in Basic Black.

I've been a bit glum today so it was nice to spend some time in my craftroom and make a happy card.

Eldon the Caterpillar meets 4 Challenges

I've not been entering so many challenges lately, just don't seem to find the time, so I was quite pleased to be able to make a card to match 4 challenges, plus after not liking my previous card, I wanted to make another card straight away (a bit like getting back in the saddle after falling off a horse - so to speak!). Anyway, enough waffle, this card is for:

TMITA - Use Eldon the Caterpillar digi-image plus use ribbon to make a bow
Carol's Sketch Fun - the sketch
Little Paper Shop - use Autumn colours - Rose Red; Pumpkin Pie & Summer Sun
Stamp With Fun - use Autumn colours

I've used Stampin' Up! throughout (except for the image) & paper-pieced Eldon's body to match with the papers.

Recipe:

Image - digi-stamp from TMITA
Sentiment - Circle of Friendship
Stampin Write Markers - Pumpkin Pie; Rose Red; Summer Sun
DSPs - Summer Picnic
Cardstock - Summer Sun; Rose Red; Pumpkin Pie
Ribbon - Fairytales
Other - ProMarkers - green & grey

It's been an absolutely gorgeous day today, so much so I had trouble taking this picture as it was so bright and I either got overexposed or shadows, so the piccie's actually a bit darker than the colours are in real life.

Stamp With Us - Recipe Challenge

A recipe to follow over at Stamp With Us this week, no patterned paper, 2 stamps & 2 ribbons. I'm not happy at all with this card, disaster from start to finish but I've made it so I'm entering it! The photo makes it look worse, the ribbon's not quite so bad in real life, but is patchy where I've coloured it (this normally works so well!).

Anyway here the recipe - all Stampin' Up!

Stamps - Queue Up (available from 1 October as a Level 3 Hostess set); Seeing Spots; Stem Sayings
Ink - Basic Black; Pink Passion
Cardstock - Whisper White; Pink Passion; Only Orange
SU Markers - Pink Passion; Only Orange; Pixie Pink; Yoyo Yellow

Yesterday's SU Class

Yesterday was my monthly Thursday class, with my lovely group of ladies, I really look forward to this class as we have such a good old natter, yesterday we only just managed to make our two items, we were gassing so much, and then we ran over as I showed them some sneaky peeks from the new catty - which went down very well.

Anyway, we made a Christmas card & matching gift wallet using the Loads of Love set. The card has been made with the Neighbourhood wheel as the background, with just small bits picked out using a Real Red marker, a really easy card to make but quite effective.

The matching wallet also very simple to do (I would say quick but that wasn't the case!) not clear in the pic but I've used stamps from the Snow Burst set in Versamark over the outside and then made the gift card inside using the truck again.

A lovely session though and I'm very excited as I've now got a 2nd class starting up on Saturday morning, so looking forward to that.

Recipe: All Stampin' Up!
Stamps - Loads of Love; Snow Burst; Neighbourhood Jumbo Wheel
Ink - Basic Black; Real Red; Old Olive; Versamark
Cardstock - Whisper White; Real Red
other - SU! Sticky Strip; Velcro coins

Charisma Challenge #38 - Get Sporty!

Good morning lovely bloggers, it's Thursday again, where the last week has gone I just don't know!! Anyway, that means it's time for another challenge over at Charisma and the theme this week is Get Sporty which has been set by Vee. This sounded a bit scary at first but it's such a broad theme, so I'm sure, like me, you'll find something in your stash to use. I'm also entering this card over at Die Cut Dreams as their theme this week is Men!

My image is from Sporty Billy by Pink Cat Studios and I've coloured him ProMarkers, a friend gave me this image ages ago & I'd forgotten I had him, I managed to drop some ink on the piece of card next to him, and I don't have another image, so I had to cut around him, but don't tell anyone, and hopefully it looks intentional!! The backing papers came from a CD, I've also had for ages and never use, so it was good to dust that off and I made the rosette myself (which is why it's a bit wonky) but I needed something else to go on the card and this was another of those middle of the night moments I had when I couldn't sleep last night and was mulling over my card! The sentiment is from Stampin' Up! Circle of Friendship set and it's all mounted onto SU! Brilliant Blue cardstock.

Hope you can join in this week, there's a lovely prize donated by our fab owner Carly of some gorgeous digi-stamps by Whimsy Doodles, so pop over here for a look and to see the other fab creations for inspiration by the rest of the DT

Doodle Palace - new images & a freebie!

It's release day over at DoodlePalace, with some great new images being released, there's also a freebie to be snagged so pop over here for a look!

I've made my card using the new Santa & Rudolph image, which I thought was very sweet! I've used the sketch from I love ProMarkers monthly challenge & coloured my image with PM's so am entering the card over there.

The papers are Pebble Ink; the cardstock is SU! Real Red; the sentiment is Stampin' Up! from the Level 3 Hostess set Window Dressing; and I don't know if you can see the sparkly snowflake beneath the sentiment, but that's also SU! from the set Snow Burst. I've embossed the cardstock with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and the ribbon is from my stash.

Get Sketchy #6 and a Sneak Peek

Here's another sneaky peek of one of the new stamp sets coming out in the new Stampin' Up! Catalogue on 1 Oct, it's a lovely Christmas set called Tree Trimmings and these are two of the stamps from it. I've made this card for the challenge over at Get Sketchy, following their sketch and extra challenge of no patterned paper. I decided to go for a different Christmas colour scheme and looked through my stash of SU! cardstock and put these two together - Taken With Teal and More Mustard and I really like the combo. The stars come from the SU! set In the Stars and I've stamped the Teal c/stock with Versamark and two more stars using More Mustard ink and cut them out. The two strips have been put through my Cuttlebug with an embossing folder and that's it, a clean, simple card.

Sophisticats Week 3

Morning all, bit of a dull day here in Shropshire, but the promise of some sunshine later.

This is my DT card for our challenge over at Sophisticats this week, Karen really stretched us with her theme of "no stamping!" After I picked myself up off the floor and stopped panicking I actually really enjoyed making this card, it just felt so odd not stamping my image - I almost felt like I was cheating - how daft is that?? Karen has also given us a lovely sketch to follow, so maybe give yourself a challenge & a stretch & perhaps do something different this week.

My lovely owls & sentiment came from a scrapping set that a friend gave me, so I'm afraid I don't know where it's from, the DSP is by We R Memory Keepers, and I've punched the flowers out of the same papers to make the flowers, with some brads from my stash. The ribbon is Stampin' Up! and is from the retiring set Fairy Tale Originals which is 50% off - bargain!

Hope you can play along with us this week, we've a fab prize up for grabs from our Sponsor JB Crafting Supplies

HouseMouse Challenge #52

This is my entry for the HouseMouse Challenge, which is celebrating a year of challenges and you can choose any of the previous challenges as your theme for this one. I went for No. 32 which was Something Sweet as I had this lovely image from my friend Carly and it certainly fits the theme.

For a change I've watercoloured the image using SU! Watercolour Crayons, and I've used SU! DSPs Tea & Crumpets and matched it with SU! cardstock Always Artichoke. The sentiment is SU! "Best Yet" a Level 1 hostess set and the ribbon is actually Very Vanilla coloured with an Always Artichoke marker to match. The button is from my stash.

Bee Crafty Bookmark

Make a bookmark is the challenge over at Bee Crafty, you don't have to use a Bee Crafty image, but she's giving away this fab digi of a stack of books, so I thought it would be rude not to!! I've sat a Hanglar image on the top of my stack of books and have coloured her with ProMarkers and some SU! markers, the books are coloured with SU! markers too (couldn't get my PM's in those tiny spaces!). I've embossed some SU! Pink Passion cardstock with a Cuttlebug folder and cut it out using a C/Bug die. The ribbon & charm are from my stash.

Challenge 37 - Flower Power

Hello, it's Challenge Day over at Charisma and this week it's been set by Leanne, and her theme is Flower Power, so looking forward to seeing lots of lovely flowers this week.

For my card I've kept it quite simple, the image is a freebie from TMITA which I thought was really lovely. I was going to enter my card there as well, but forgot I was supposed to be embossing or scoring on the card, so it probably won't qualify now!

I've coloured my flower with ProMarkers, the DSPs are digi-papers from ScrapGirls from a set called New Growth, the cardstock is Stampin' Up! Pixie Pink, the ribbon is from the retiring Fairy Tale originals (reduced by 50%) and the button is also SU - Earth Elements.

Hope you can join us this week & get all flowery!

Pollycraft & Stamping With Fun

Second card today which I'm entering for two challenges. I've followed a great sketch over at Stamp With Fun and the theme at Pollycraft this week is black, white & one other.

The image is a Pollycraft digi-image called Cherry Kisses Attitude and I've coloured her with ProMarkers and SU! markers. The papers are by digi-papers by Pink Petticoat from a set called Pretty Doodles, I've used these quite a lot as I really love them and for each colour you get a positive and negative image, so I've used the positive side to cut out three strips from and added some eyelets on each end. I haven't actually stuck these strips down, they're held in place by the central band so they're actually slightly raised off the paper, but you can't really see that in the photo, I've also distressed the edges of the paper. The sentiment is Stampin' Up! from the set Stem Sayings and the cardstock is SU! Real Red.

New DoodlePalace images

New images are being released today over at DoodlePalace, as well as this great Christmas Elf, there's some lovely Autumn ones too, so pop on over for a look.

I've coloured my Christmas Elf with ProMarkers and chalked some SU! pastels around the edge. The papers are digi-papers and I'm sorry but I don't know where from, I printed them out a while ago for another project and forgot to label them! The sentiment is an SU! stamp from the set Loads of Love, stamped with SU! Real Red ink, the c/stock is also SU! Real Red and the ribbon & stars are from my stash.

We've also got a challenge going on at the moment to use the colours Green & Orange, so plenty of scope there & hope you can join in.

Carol's Fun Sketch meets DieCut Dreams (and a sneaky sneak-peak!)

Good morning all, bit of a dull day here in Shropshire but the sun is threatening to pop through the clouds, so fingers crossed.

This is my entry for challenges over at Carol's Fun Sketch and DieCut Dreams, whose theme this week is "Tea for Two"

The image is a HouseMouse stamp, that my wonderful friend Carly stamped out for me cos she knows I'm a HUGE HouseMouse fan, I think they're so sweet, I just love 'em to bits (I'm a big fan of mice and rats in real life too) and so as soon as I saw the theme I knew I was going to use this image and I've coloured him with ProMarkers. The other stamp on the side of the card is another sneak peek from the new Stampin' Up! catty and is from the same set as the mushrooms on my card the other day - Queue Up! I thought it would make a good border and used it instead of a ribbon down the side of my card, I've coloured this with SU! markers to match up with the DSP's & cardstock -both SU! The c/s is Tempting Turquoise and the DSPs is from Rainbow Sherbert, another set sadly retiring at the end of this month! The sentiment has been done on my 'puter and the flower is from my stash.

The card's much brighter in real life, but I took the pic last night, so it's a bit dull

I love this card, but it's because of the image, I don't think it's possible to make a bad card with this little fella! Let's hope I don't prove myself wrong now LOL!!!

TFL & have a good day

Sophisticats Week 2

Good morning all, it's week 2 over at Sophisticats and the challenge this week has been set by Lyn to make a wallet of some sorts. Pop on over to the blog to have a look at the fab creations by the DT, all very different, which should give you some ideas & hopefully inspiration!

We've got a great sponsor this week

Click on the link above to go to her shop, or to view her blog go here. She makes such gorgeous, cute stamps and she's giving away this cute little fella as a prize for one lucky entrant this week:

I've made my wallet from a template I came across in Blogland, and for the life of me I can't remember where (I usually make a note) so if anyone recognises it and can tell me, please do so I can give full credit.

Very easy to make and I've used all Stampin' Up! on it as follows:

Stamps - Butterfly from the set "Garden Whimsy"; Sentiment from the set "Simply Said"
Ink - Pretty in Pink, Basic Black
Cardstock - Pretty in Pink
DSP - Tea & Crumpets
Ribbon - Fairy Tale Ribbon Originals (currently reduced by 50% and available till the end of Sep - or stocks run out)
Velcro fastner - from my stash

TFL & hope you can join us this week
